Alanis Macleod S6 and Rachel Goodwin S6 from the News Team met with Ms Drew, Head Teacher of Invergordon Academy to ask her a few questions about her new position.
What are your thoughts about your new position as Head Teacher of Invergordon Academy so far?
“First of all, I never thought I would leave because I love it here and I never ever thought I was going to be a Head Teacher. Then Mr Steven got offered his big job and fate threw this job at me. I like it a lot so far. The staff and pupils are all really helpful and supportive and parents have also been very nice with lots of congratulations. It’s nice to know the community is all behind the change.
“There has been some very odd stuff to deal with that most people don’t think is part of a Head Teacher’s job. Such as, what happens if the heating goes off during stormy weather!”
Do you like your new office?
“I like the view from my office but I’m not too keen on the colour scheme and the big table has a schoogly leg so there may be a little redecoration happening. Nothing pink though. Nothing pink or fluffy.”
How are your new responsibilities?
“I thought I was busy being a depute I am now very busy as a Head Teacher but it’s a good kind of busy. I’ve been very lucky having a job here so I’m quite happy giving a bit of my time to keep it a good school. My one big disappointment is not getting on the ski trip this year! But maybe next year.”
Thank you Ms Drew for taking time to talk to us. Keep up the good work!
