On the 7th of November 2017, our computing class went on a day trip to Skills Development Scotland. This trip was very enjoyable because it had very enjoyable activities.
In the morning, we did the DIY Gamer workshop, which involved an arduino mini computer and some added components, which gave it an 8×8 screen of LED pixels and a little control pad. This was very enjoyable as it involved lots of very easy to understand coding.
In the afternoon, we did the Lego Mindstorms Workshop, which involved working with Lego Mindstorms robots, and the Lego Mindstorms program, to make the robot move around in different patterns. We also used ultrasonic sensors to make sure the robot didn’t crash into walls. We used the robots to simulate a satellite orbiting the Earth.
