Rachel Goodwin and I met up with Ms Gilruth to ask her a few questions.
Meet the new addition to the science department, Ms Gilruth!
Q1: What were your first impressions of the school?
I really like it. The pupils are really nice and the staff are as well. It’s very pretty – that’s the first thing I noticed.
Q2: What did you do before you came here?
Well, I’m quite young. I was a lifeguard and swimming teacher and I lived in Glasgow for four years. I taught science and I’ve been travelling in India.
Q3: Do you have any hobbies?
Swimming. I like swimming. And Doctor Who.
Q4: Do you have any tips for pupils for the coming year?
Well, I tell my fourth years that I accept all bribes. It doesn’t affect your final grade but I like freebies. Newton was a good guy. Listen to what he says. He comes up a lot!
Q5: What is your dream job?
To be a teacher. How cliché. I knew since I was in fifth year. My teacher said to me that I would be a teacher and when I got to university I was like “Yeah, I am”.
Thank you Ms Gilruth for answering our questions!
